Scholarships

The Waterbury Rotary Club is pleased to offer several scholarship programs each year in partnership with the Harwood Union Unified School District for students who live in Waterbury, Waterbury Center, Duxbury, or Moretown. All applications for the 2025-2026 scholarships are due April 30, 2026.

1) Annual Senior Scholarship

The Annual Senior Scholarship awards students with a new Apple laptop. Applications are evaluated based on a combination of academic performance, extracurricular activities, and community service. Extra value is also placed on Rotary-based involvement such as Interact membership, Rotary Exchange, or helping with any other Rotary projects.

2) Lise Bornstein Malter Community Service Award

The Lise Bornstein Malter Community Service Award is a cash scholarship in recognition of a student’s community involvement. The award is given in memory of Lise Bornstein Malter, who dedicated her life to helping others. She believed in the value of “tikkun olam,” or mending the world. Applications are evaluated on community service and students should demonstrate their experience helping others.

3) Tools of the Trade

The Waterbury Rotary Club is pleased to offer the Tools of the Trade scholarship to Waterbury area students attending the Central Vermont Career Center. This award is available to any senior from Harwood Union High School who lives in Waterbury, Waterbury Center, Duxbury, or Moretown and is graduating from a program at CVCC. The Tools of the Trade Scholarship awards students with $1,000 worth of tools, materials, or supplies in their chosen professional field.
